In this subsection of WorkXpress 102, we'll introduce you to the features of each of our Field Types.

As we've previously discussed, Fields store and display data about Items and Relationships. WorkXpress provides a diverse variety of Field Types.
Text Fields
Overview of Text FieldsThis Field Type allows your users to enter and view text in your application. Three different kinds of text Fields are available. |
| Short Text FieldThe Short Text Field is used to store up to 255 characters of text. |
| Long Text FieldThe Long Text Field is used to store up to 65,535 characters of text. |
| Static HTML Content FieldThe Static HTML Content Field is used to display preconfigured HTML Content. |
Number
| Overview of Number FieldsThis Field Type allows your users to view and edit properly formatted number. Four kinds of number Fields are available. |
| Currency - US FieldThe Currency - US Field stores a monetary value. |
| Number FieldThe Number Field stores a numeric value. |
| Autonumber FieldThe Autonumber Field is used to sequentially number instances of one or more Item Types automatically. |
| Social Security Number FieldThe Social Security Number Field is used to store Social Security numbers. |
Communications
Overview of Communications FieldsThis Field Type allows your users to view and edit a variety of communications-related data. Four varieties of communication Fields are available. |

| Email Address FieldThe Email Address Field is used to store email addresses. |
| Phone Number FieldThe Phone Number Field is used to store phone numbers. |
| URL FieldThe URL Field is used to display WWW addresses. |
Date & Time
| Overview of Date & Time FieldsThis Field Type allows your users to view and edit date and time information. Four different Date/Time Field displays are available. |
| Date & Time FieldThe Date and Time Field stores a UNIX timestamp and displays a calendar date and time. |
| Date FieldThe Date Field stores a UNIX timestamp and displays a calendar date. |
| Time FieldThe Time Field stores a UNIX timestamp and displays a time. |
| Clock FieldThe Clock Field displays the current time for a user-specified time zone. |
Checkbox
| Overview of Checkbox FieldQuite simply, a Field Type that allows an option to be checked. |
| Checkbox FieldThe Checkbox Field allows users to answer "yes" or "no" to a simple question. |
Item Selector
Overview of Item Selector FieldsThis Field Type allows your users to choose from an Item or many Items from the entire set of user data in your data layer. Four kinds are available. |

 | Select One FieldAllows a user to select a single Item from a list. |
 | Search Many FieldAllows a user to search for multiple Items. |
 | Select Many FieldAllows a user to select or deselect multiple Items at once. |
WorkXpress Link
Overview of WorkXpress Link FieldsThis Field Type is used to create a chain of Actions that will execute when a user clicks a button. You may choose any of the following four kinds of WorkXpress Link Fields. |
 | Text Only WorkXpress Link FieldUse this Field to create a text only WorkXpress Link. |
 | Text and Image WorkXpress Link FieldUse this Field to create a WorkXpress Link with both an image and text. |
 | Image Only WorkXpress Link FieldUse this Field to create a WorkXpress Link using an image only. |
 | HTML Button WorkXpress Link FieldUse this Field to create an HTML Button WorkXpress Link. |
Miscellaneous
Overview of Miscellaneous FieldsSome Fields aren't easily classified because they serve a very specific purpose. Those Field Types are listed in this category. Currently, WorkXpress includes five miscellaneous Field Types. |
